Dr. Emily Boozalis

Emily Boozalis’s path to dermatology began in her twenties, when she recognized her own melanoma during a medical school lecture on skin cancer. After spotting a familiar-looking lesion in the lecture slides, she approached the presenting physician, who ultimately diagnosed her, treated her, and later performed her surgery. That experience profoundly shaped her career, inspiring the empathy and firsthand understanding she brings to every patient.

Originally from Houston, she graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School at the top of her class with AOA honors. She later served as Chief Resident during her dermatology residency at UCLA.

Now a board-certified medical and cosmetic dermatologist at Ada West Dermatology in Boise, her biggest piece of advice is simple, but powerful: use a broad-spectrum mineral sunscreen every day and don’t forget your neck!
